The Office of Student Development and Services (OSDS) conducted the annual orientation for officers of student councils and accredited organizations for A.Y 2024-2025 at the Justo Albert Auditorium, Sept. 30.
The orientation discussed the overview of the OSDS Student Activity Sector (SAS), student event guidelines, grounds for revoking of accreditation, and PLM Student Commission on Audit (SCOA) guidelines and information.
Moreover, 56 organizations were also accredited, 47 of which were re-accredited.
PLM SCOA Chief Commissioner Patricia Vera C. Parane also announced the relaunch of their Help Desk last Oct. 1 and the upcoming general assembly for the auditing body.
University President Sonny Reyes also personally congratulated the newly-accredited organizations, noting the importance of student freedom with responsibility and accountability.
“Freedom is not absolute in all aspects. Freedom has limitations. As I have told the new editorial team of Ang Pamantasan, they should not go beyond what is required under the law that every freedom of expression must be done out of respect and out of respect for another’s right,” he stated.
Pres. Reyes also emphasized the significance of an organization’s purpose, saying that the absence of it is also the absence of their meaning. He also urged the students to always revisit the grounds of their community’s establishment.
OSDS Director Dr. Lynnette G. Cleto delivered the closing remarks, promising the office’s full support for the students provided that they stand by the policies reiterated during the orientation.
