Fitted: PLMayer’s film competes as a finalist for best short film in Asia

“To tell the stories of little queer boys and girls that being different doesn’t mean you have to embrace yourself in the dark but rather shine the most in the light.”

This has been the inspiration for the short film, “Fitted”, directed by a PLMayer that was selected as a finalist in the Best Short Film - Vertical Category of Viddsee Juree Awards Asia 2023 last Nov. 2. 

The director of the film is Jaerick Dionuel Ababao or Jaed, which most people call him, is a senior communication student from the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. 

Ababao described the vertical short film as a teaser, which is about the story of a boy finding a new world. 

“In a magical closet, a young boy finds a new world of joy. His mother must choose whether to encourage his pursuit of happiness in the outside world,” the Viddsee finalist teased in a written reply through an exclusive request.

Together with his fellow senior communication student, Amor Merjudo who served as the Director of Photography, did the film as part of their internship within their program. 

As part of their journey in the competition, Fitted is among other films to be voted for Audience Choice Award on a website and Tiktok until Nov. 13, Monday. The following are the steps for voting Fitted as your favorite film:

Ababao thanked everyone who welcomed Fitted “with open arms” in support of this special piece for the LGBTQ+ community. 

“It is truly an honor to be part of this event, but the love and support that comes from our fellow Haribons [is what] makes this remarkable,” the Fitter’s director added.
